Introduction of Business Process A Business Process means a series of steps performed by a group of stakeholders to achieve a concrete goal. If simply explain, a business process is a process that is focused on achieving a goal for a business. The importance of business processes is a process forms the lifeline for any business and helps it streamline individual activities, making sure that resources are put to optimal use. Example for Business Processes :-   Staff on boarding and time off requests   Student admission and registration  Processing financial aid applications   Curriculum approvals   Scheduling Business Process Management- BPM It is the discipline in which people use various methods to discover, model, analyze, measure, improve, optimize and automate business processes. Business Process Reengineering is a business management strategy, originally Pioneered in the early 1990 (Michael Hammer published an article in the Harvard Busin

Identification of Actors

Actors of the system Actors are parties that contribute to the well-being of the system. These parties interact with each other to ensure the existence of a system. We can identify the following actors in the selected scenario. Actors * Department head * Students * Staff

ER Diagram with Assumptions and Explanation

Introduction for ER diagram ER Diagram means Entity Relationship Diagram in DBMS. Entity Relationship model describes the structure of the database from the help of this diagram. ER diagram uses for data modelling and relational database. There are some components of an entity relationship diagram such as entities, attributes, relationships and connecting lines. The Entity-Relationship Diagram of the academic institution system shows all the  instrument of the database table and the relational between students, faculties, registrations, staff, teachers and etc. In this diagram,    There are 4 entities, they are  Institude, Department DepatHead   Staff

Identification of Relationships

Image
Introduction about relationships Relationship describe connection between database tables. Relationship is primarily the way to two or more data sets linked. One data set known as the foreign key and the other one is primary key. There may be multiple foreign keys and primary keys linked to each other.  What are the relationships in ER Diagrams .           When considering about the relationships in ER diagrams there are three types of relationships that can be exist between two entities. An entity-relationship diagram can be created based on these three types. One to One relationships (1:1)-           In relational database design, a One to One relationship exists when zero or one instance of entity A can be associated with zero or one instance of entity B, and zero or one instance of entity B can be associated with zero or one instance of entity A.     One to Many relationships (1:N)     In relational database design, a One to Many relationship exists when, for one instance of enti

Identification of Attributes

Image
Introduction of Attributes An attributes is a property or characteristic of an entity. An entity may contain any number of attributes . One of the attribute considered as the primary Key. Also we can explain like this, Attributes is entity are represented by means of their properties called attributes. In an entity - relational model, are represented in an elliptical shape.   All attributes have values. There are several types of attribute in ER-modal. Types of Attributes Ø Simple Attributes : Simple attributes are atomic value, which cannot be                         further. For an example, a student phone number is an atomic value of 10 digits. Ø Composite Attributes : An attributes that can be split into components is a composite attributes. Ø Single-valued   Attributes : The attribute which takes up only a single value for each entity instance is a single-valued attributes. For an example, the age of a student. Ø Multi-valued Attributes : The attributes w

Identification Of Entities

Introduction of entities  An Entity is a real-world object which it has certain properties called attributes that define the nature of entity. Main entities of the academic institution are students, teachers, books, library, managers, registrations and courses. introduction: An entity is an independent existence and different from other objects. An entity have a lot of attributes. In real world entities are playing a main role. In Entity relationship model an entity is represented by a rectangle. There are two types of entities are using in this model. They are strong entities and weak entities. Strong entities can hold without any dependent. But weak entities dependent on other entity.

About selected scenario

We have selected the 2nd scenario as our case study topic. The sample scenario what we selected is, Scenario 2 : An academic institute in your town wants to set up a database to record details about its staff, and the departments they belong to. They intend to record the following information. For each member of staff, their staff identity number, name, job title, and salary, for each department, its name and address, and for each member of st aff, all departments that they belong to. It is required that every member of staff belongs to at least one department. For each department, there is a head of department. It is required that each department has exactly one head of department. Develop a sy stem to manage the day - to - day business of this institute .            Above scenario guide us to develop a system to manage the day-to-day business of the academic institute.
